Zemkalnis is being awarded with "Lithuanian Millennium Star" today

Gabrielius Zemkalnis, representative of the World Lithuanian Community in Lithuania is to be honored with the "Lithuanian Millennium Star", writes ELTA.

The honorary sign of the Foreign Ministry of Lithuania is awarded to him for merits in the restoration of Lithuania"s independence and cherishing of its statehood, for unification of Lithuanian emigrants and long-term service for the benefit of Lithuania.

Foreign Minister Vygaudas Usackas will present the award to Zemkalnis on Monday.

Eighty-five people have already been awarded with the "Lithuanian Millennium Star".

BAFL board members were in Washington, DC the first week of March to discuss Baltic issues. Co-President Alnis Briedis, Imants Leitis, Co-President Vija A. Turjanis, and Valdis Pavlovskis met with Samantha Spinney, Congressman Dennis Kucinich's Legislative Assisstant on March 2.
