Valdas Adamkus met with the leaders of countries participating in the multi-national force in Iraq

Wednesday, September 24, New York – President Valdas Adamkus, currently on a working visit to the United Nations, attended a meeting of the leaders of countries participants in the multi-national force in Iraq which was organized by US President George W. Bush and Iraqi President Jalal Talabani.

During the meeting, President Adamkus had conversations with the presidents of Estonia, Georgia, Iraq, the United States, Latvia, and Poland and also with the Danish Prime Minister.

Opinions about the issues raised at the high-level debate of the UN General Assembly were exchanged.

Speaking to President Adamkus, Iraqi President Talabani thanked Lithuania for its civilian and military contribution to stabilizing the situation in Iraq. They conversed about the importance of international support to Iraq and the process of restoring peace in the country.
